Storm 2012 Championship Game Recap
Meyer helps Storm down Raptors 7-3 for Tournament Championship
Henry Meyer went 3-3 at the plate as the Storm took home a 7-3 victory over the Raptors in six innings at the Minor League field on Saturday, concluding the Vine Ingle Minor League Tournament.
He doubled in the first, third, and fifth innings.
TW Brewer handled the Raptors’ lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Brewer allowed no earned runs on two hits and two walks over four innings.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Storm scored one run on an RBI double by Meyer.
The Storm added three more runs in the bottom of the third. A double by Luke Dasher ignited the offense, bringing home Brewer. That was followed up by Meyer’s double, plating Dasher and Jack Medlin.
After pushing across one run in the top of the fourth, the Raptors faced just a 4-1 deficit. A steal of home by Ben Baxley fueled the Raptors’ comeback. Finally, Brewer got Sean Lagan to strike out to end the threat.
The Storm answered the Raptors’ top inning with one run of its own in the fourth. The Storm scored on an RBI single by Spencer Hebert.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the fifth, the Raptors faced just a 5-3 deficit. An RBI single by Colby and an RBI single by Chason triggered the Raptors’ comeback. But, Meyer got Riley Lester to end the inning.
The Storm scored two runs of its own in the fifth. The Storm scored on an RBI single by Graham Meyer and a walk by Connor McGinnis.
The game ended in a classic fashion as brother (Henry) pitched to brother (Graham). With two outs in the last inning, 1 ball and 2 strikes Henry’s pitch was hit as a pop fly going foul above the Graham’s head. Seemingly in slow motion Graham looked left, then right…then straight up to lock in on the ball and catch it to end the inning, the game, the tournament.
